Born and raised in rural England, Angela Spencer has always found inspiration for her creations in the quaint and history-rich home of her youth. And when you’re living and working in Brooklyn, NY, this Anglo-influence undoubtedly helps set your creations apart. But that’s just a small part of the equation when it comes to Angela Spencer’s Irresistible Stuff. Founded in 2004, a.s.i.s. has been wowing customers and the crowded crafts community of New York City since her first collection. And she’s not slowing down.
The girl from across the Atlantic is taking us straight into it for her "Warmer Weather" collection. This time her inspiration is the allure of the sea and the storied fishing culture introduced to her by uncles when she was just a child. You can see the influence in the intricate aesthetics of the knot and rope work in her designs.
And, as always, everything that goes into an a.s.i.s. product is carefully chosen by Angela herself, handmade in the United States and eco-friendly. From the 100% organic cotton T-shirts to the needles and hooks cast from mum's sewing basket into reclaimed sterling silver neck pieces. No mining involved. Reclaimed silk tops screen printed with water based ink friendly on the planet. Natural talent, natural ingredients — according to Angela, stuff just isn’t irresistible without these.
Crochet project: Angela is comibing her love for crochet by crocheting a Brit word a day for a year. Starting in April with "Way you make me feel" May "Brit Nosh" and it goes on from there. Follow her on Face Book, interact and send in your favorite Brit. word everyone has one and it may get crochet.
